Message left on my answering machine in a heavy American female accent threatening legal action if I did not return the call in short time (I was away) on the basis of alleged tax evasion and tax fraud. ACCC site reports similar messages from other 02 numbers.
Absolutely a scam. They tried to convince me they were the ATO and that I was about to face criminal charges unless I met them at a post office and paid $20 000! I have heard a LOT of these though and this was extremely professional and convincing. Beware.
Received phone call from this number stating he was from the Australian Tax Office. When I questioned him further, he hung up on me. I know this to be a scam and the caller had an Indian accent. Beware of this caller and block the phone number.
