I've had two calls from this number now. Some Scottish bloke.
He never gives his name nor does he say my name or anything about me. Only the whole tax evasion spill lark. It does make me wonder though why infact am I paying paying for a privet number when low life people have to stoop this low to try ang take from others to get on in life. Who's really the fool in the end when they are caught for tax evasion them selves.
Received a message today similar to others described saying to not ignore the call and to ensure I call back. Tax evasion and public prosecution for business tax was mentioned. It sounded very serious and before calling back I'm glad I've checked here. If there was a tax issue I realised I would not be called but would receive written advice. My name or personal details were not mentioned and I am assuming this is what the scammers are after? Do not answer!!!
Believed to be spam/criminals from the ATO suggesting fraud involvement...beware.
An elderly client of mine rang to say she had the same message re tax evasion. She rang me in distress, and I then rang the police and they advised they are aware of this. Why don't they close the numbers down. I rang back and was given rubbish information. I told them I was elderly and didn't know what I had done wrong and they hung up. Sounded like there were several other people in the room making similar calls. With all the technology available surely the address can be traced and these guys arrested.
I have had two calls from this number, both saying I had to call back immediately on a matter of tax evasion. I didn't call back.
A foreign sounding man, about in this thirties, rang my landline regarding tax evasion and something about legal claim with the tax office on my name - he even gave me a warrant number. I live in melbourne, he had my address, and he asked me to call the Camberwell office but he gave me the same number as above without the (02) area code.
My daughter looked up this number and has warned me of this scam.
I was asked to call this number because of tax evasion (not applicable to me). I was told to call back immediately and not to disregard the call. I called twice, the line rang out then went dead.
I received a call from this number 02 61885601 today. A recorded message from a man who has an accent I think he named himself Kenneth. He crapped on about tax evasion and fraud and gave the above number to call back on. Google search reveals what I suspected: scam call.
Received what seemed to be a recorded call today, from someone claiming to be from the Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions. Requested I call back urgently regarding an urgent legal petition notice of tax evasion and wilful fraud. This seems like a scam to me -- a fraudulent caller.
Received call from Indian-sounding male today, claiming to be from Department of Public Prosections. Requested I call back urgently regarding tax evasion and wilful "something". When I called back (from a mobile phone), they requested my landline number and then they terminated the call. When I called back again, twice I got a recorded message saying number was "incomplete or incorrect".
An American male with this number just left a message on a land line claiming he was from the Commonwealth DPP chasing unpaid taxes. This is a scam and do not fall for it.
