I received a call to my mobile around 2 noon today 1 May 2017 from a recorded, robotic male sounding voice starting conversation with words saying something like "Last chance... Then referred to Commonwealth.. Dept of Prosecutions..".
I received a call to my mobile around 12 noon today 1 May 2017 from a recorded, robotic male sounding voice starting conversation with words saying something like "Last chance... Then referred to Commonwealth.. Dept of Prosecutions..". I then hung up. I rang the number back, it rang a couple of times then cut me off". It was also strange that I also received a call to my (silent number) home landline around the same time. When I answered and said hello - the person said nothing so I just held on also saying nothing and they then hung up on me.
Like others I got a call from this number with a recorded and robotic voice, saying that the police will show up at my door and arrest me if I don't call them asap. For some reason they threw the word "Commonwealth" around a lot.
I called them to amuse myself and there is not way, that would be the ATO. They answered with a simple "Hello" and started asking for my information. Was a bit worried that they knew my First and last name, but I know that information can easily be found.
I just received a call from american male robot that said if I don't call back there may be some police on my doorstep. Also about a tax issue. Then left a number to call and hung up.
I called the number back and it is no way the tax office. He said I was getting a refund but all communication I get from tax office is via my accountant so this is a total scam. He hung up when I said that.
Got robo call, demanded a call back for tax issue.
