Yes, I received exactly the same voicemail on my landline on 11 Sep 2015. The voicemail was from a woman with an Indian accent and poor English claiming to be from the Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecutions. The voice message went on to say:

(a) that I was being prosecuted by the Australian Tax Office (ATO),

(b) that my house was under surveillance, and.

(c) that I must phone the above phone number to pay some money to the caller.

The police ought to take action PROMPTLY to track down and prosecute these people for attempted fraud - before anyone is defrauded by the scam.

Clearly the educated among us will promptly know this is a ridiculously inept scam, and that things don't work this way in Australia.

However, the poor and less educated (especially those who genuinely may have tax debts, or who do not understand how the ATO operates) may well be caught out.

Received a call from this number, recorded on the answering machine, it was an Indian or Pakistani woman claiming to be a recorded message from the DPP about a tax debt, claimed my house is under surveillance, to call them back on the first hearing of the message or a court case would be brought against me. Definite SCAM as I checked with ATO and they don't operate in this manner.

This number is calling me pretending to be the ATO.

Received a call on my work phone (my name and work phone number are available on the organisation website). I was told by a gentleman with a strong accent that he was from the ATO and the Department of Public Prosecutions and that I was being investigated for tax evasion. I asked for his name, he refused to give it. I asked him to send me an official letter. He asked for my address. I told him that he should have that information if he is legitimate. He became angry and said the Department of Public Prosecutions doesn't deal with letters and only works on the telephone. He then said if I don't give him more information they would take immediate legal action against me. I hung up the phone.

Hey

Got an automated call from CDPP a foreign woman leaves the message saying there was a pending lawsuit from the ATO and for me to ring 0261761327 and that my house was under surveillance... Checked Google to see if this was a scam. And YES!!

Just took a call from these scammers, telling me I would be sued for $95.000.00 by the ATO if it went to court and should pay the $5.000.00 I ripped off the tax department. When I asked the Indian speaking man named Gary Boyd, what my first name was he could not tell me. He said I could end up in Jail and my kids would be placed in foster care!!! I was furious about how these people can state such lies, they need to be caught.

Number called twice with automated information, stating that the address was under surveillance pending legal action. Man with an accent stated he was with the CDPP and required personal information, which was not surplied.

On Thursday I received two unsolicited phone calls leaving voice messages. The message was a voice recording from a caller claiming to be from the CDPP in Canberra threatening prosecution on behalf of the ATO.

The message was left in English by a woman with a heavy Indian accent and was grammatically poor. A request was left to return a call to this number: 0261761327.

Message left on voicemail. Female caller with Indian accent claimed that a federal case had been started against me and demanded that I should call this number. The caller did not identify herself and did not identify who had been named in the purported case.

These people are evil - it is a scam - they cannot provide any details regarding to the ATO and ask you to settle out of court over the phone.

The legal system & ATO do not work this way - hang up immediately if this number calls you and give them no personal information.

Same as other. Going to be arrested. Serious trouble.

This time called Jake Swift. Indian sounding dude- Jake must be a common Indian name :).

I see this is prevalent.

Again - if you want them caught - PLEASE REPORT to:

ATO (via their email address to report an email spam/scam as they have no email address to report a phone scam).

AFP needs to chase the owners/address of this phone number & deal.

Ordinary people need to ignore the call & report it ([link].

This is a not only very serious scam but also an offence under the commonwealth crimes act. Left a message on my voice mail requesting that I call 02 61761327. Threatened that I was being prosecuted by the ATO and that my house was being watched. Neither the ATO nor the CPP work this way.

They need to be caught and prosecuted as for many people to receive a call like this would create great anxiety and be very disturbing.

Had this as well. Three messages on voicemail. Indian sounding lady.

I would be happy to pass along my tax bills to scammers.

Message on home phone, quite aggressive tone, demanding that we return call as ATO had filed a lawsuit against us.

Looked up the number and found a number of similar alerts.

2 automated calls today 10 Sept.

9+am and 3:23pm.

Definitely the equivalent of a 'Nigerian' email scan.

Reported it to ATO (via their email address to report an email spam/scam as they have no email address to report a phone scam).
