Caller claimed to be from HP, used scare tactics to get me to download software which showed a popup, turned out to be a scam and I lost money
Same as above, total scam call, recording saying it's the ATO, if you don't call back you'll be arrested etc etc – or rather will 'get you arrested,' not only a terrible scam job, but terrible English too (as usual with all these scammers, can pick them a mile away).
Calls up and claims that the person needs to call back immediately as a final alert from the ATO and Commonwealth Bank regarding suspected tax fraud and if you don't contact them you may have police at your door. (02) 6176 1112. Computer generated message.
Idiots phones me today - acting as though its an official pre-recorded message from ATO - if I don't contact them..... Police officers may rock up at my door. Well whilst online my reply was simple, Go buy a rough pineapple, sit on it an rotate. Damn scammers.
Had this number call me today so I called back and immediately was wary. After a short Google search discovered it was a scam.
I called them back multiple times and asked why are they scamming and was hung up on lol. Also told them I had reported the number to the local police to which I was verbally abused and again hung up on.
Usually I wouldn't waste my time but I felt better after having wasted some of their time.
Just received a voice message from 02 6176 1112. My message bank got the last bit of the message and not heard clearly. I always seek whom it is so I came here and you good people have confirmed that it is ndeed a dumbass scammer with no life whom wants to be chased and get himself caught. Friggin dumbasses. I just took a call from this number also purporting to be the ATO - I just laughed and hung up.
It's a Scam. Same happened to me!
This is a scam - They call and threaten Police at your doorstep unless you pay $890 dollars back Taxes.
I asked if I could pay for this online and they advised that I needed to go to Coles or Woolworth's and buy a gift card.
After I had kept them on the phone for 30 Mins, I then told them I had arrived at my local Police Station.
He swore at me and then hang up.
This looks like a wide spread and concerted phishing campaign. I deleted the voice mail and am getting on with the rest of my busy day.
Got one of these calls also... Left an automated message about police coming to my door unless I call back...lol.
I just got a call from this number claiming they were the Australian Tax Office Criminal Investigation Office - looking for my daughter. When I started asking questions he went nuts and told me he was the 'officer' and he was the one who would be asking ME the questions!!!!
