    It's clearly a scam, as it doesn't even say "ZERO two six one" etc. Plus American compuvoice, plus it provides no official ID of the caller (which the ATO pledge they always do).

    Received a call from this number informing me that this was my FINAL WARNING as the ATO are commencing lawsuit against me.

    Contacted the ATO and they advise that together with the AFP they are trying to trace the low life behind this SCAM.

    Advise everyone you know about this as I can imagine how inundated the ATO are with calls about it.

    Same as above.

    Female voice left a message saying ATO was taking legal action and to call back on "261761081". Sounded suspect.

    Thanks for the above advice everyone!

    IF ANYONE GETS A CALL AS DESCRIBED ABOVE PLEASE HANG UP IMMEDIATELY AS IT IS ANOTHER SCAM ATTEMPTING TO DEFRAUD.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
