Total scam! Told me that there was a warrant for my arrest because I hadn’t been truthful in paying my taxes in 2013 and owed ATO $3.682 and That the local police department would contact me if I didn’t rectify this immediately. Gave me the options of either taking it to court or working out a specific date and time to pay... Said I had 45 minutes to chose what to do while they drilled me on how f*ked I was... They then said that if I pay 500 (using careless cash) then they would put the warrant on hold and that they would contact me in a few days to set up a payment plan. Yelled at me when I started asking questions and were incredibly rude when I told him I was calling my husband.. Proceeded to yell at me when I told them to put the head of their department on the phone asking me “why do I need to speak to them, I have already told you what this is about” and harassing me, telling me that I was going to jail. Another Indian jumped on the phone and yelled at me for saying it was a scam warned me that he was going through with the warrant and hung up on me. His name was David Prout.
Recorded message saying I have avoided paying tax and mail returned from my registered address and a warrant for my arrest - YES total scam. So I pressed 1 to speak to an operator (LOL I wanted to play games), a guy picked up and said "Australian Taxation Office" when I said "Hi there I hear you have a warrant out for my arrest" he hung up on me. I'm a bit disappointed because I was ready to play with these morons.
This is a scammer pretending to be the ATO.
