Received phone message claiming from tax office, requesting me to call them back. Saying due to tax evasion, and that I was being watched. Yea right just another scam, idiots they are, come here from overseas and they think people are not wise to their tricks.
Family member got a call form this number about a half hour ago, apparently a "Daniel White" claiming to be calling on behalf of the ATO and advising that they were being investigated for Tax Evasion.
When he was questioned on his credetials and asked where he had gotten their number from, he threatened Physical harm, let off with an array of verbal abuse and advised that the police would be there this afternoon with a warrant for arrest!
Unfortunately for him, the call recipient gave him his comeuppance and he then hung up. The fool, I mean does he really think that people in this day and age will sit back take his word as Gospel and then put up with his filthy mouth and threats when they question him. I think not!
Lets just hope for his sake that he does not meet any of his "unhappy customers" face to face.
Just received call from this dope - claimed to be DPP and about some warrant ATO has against me. Just garbage - told him so & hung up on him.
Don't be duped!!!
Had a missed call on the phone this morning. I just rang them back. Told me the same crap as the previous messages. This was my final warning apparently.3 letters have gone unanswered he told me, tax evasion with the ATO or something. When I told him that I work for an Accountancy Office so I will ring the ATO when I got back to work he hung up on me. arseholes.
Came home tonight and found the same message as others on my machine. Seems the two times he rang me today were disappointing for this moron as he obviously just wanted my machine so he could leave his puerile message. The most infantile attempt at a scam I have ever encountered. Obviously from a third world country and he has no idea of the degree of sophistication and "street-smarts" of people in developed countries, on the whole........ I say " on the whole" because scamwatch report that $45m has been lost in 2015 to scammers. Incredible!
Hey people; don't be fooled by this vulgarian moron. Don't be duped by scammers such as this. He is preying on peoples vulnerabilities; looking to tap in on any skeletons you may have in your cupboard. Remember that if it 'seems' incredible, it probably is!
Call his bluff: give him a fictitious name and 9-digit number and tell him its your Tax File Number and ask him to confirm it. When he DOES, you know he's a scammer because if he was collecting for the ATO he would know the correct number and the name of who he was ringing. Then tell him to get a life; or anything 'worse' you choose to say to him; and then laugh about it all and move on.
Man rang claiming to be from DPP Canberra charging me with some tax evasion - his accent made it difficult for me to understand. Told him to send it in writing. Soon after he left a message on answering machine. I rang back and asked who he was - he swore at me and hung up. Scam warning.
Been called 3 times in Sydney and the following messages on answering service. The message asserts that they have been repeatedly trying to make contact on behalf of the Australian Tax Office and that a warrant may be issued for an arrest unless one calls and co-operates. They claim there is something to do with Tax evasion that has been leveled against my address. They don't even know my name or my address so how can there be tax evasion. Crappiest scam I have seen.
Similar call to above, with foreign accent, same scam, same threats - left TWICE on my answer phone - exact same message, so its probably a recording. Hope Commonwealth DPP decides to prosecute this one!
I have had 2 calls from this number today as well in Sydney.
First call: he did not speak. Asked for me by name on second call. In between I rang the number back from the unblocked number that he rang me on (so he could see who was ringing him). No answer.
On second call he asked for me by name; I answered, yes. He stated that he was Officer Black, Jake Black. I said, yes.... And the weasel just hung up.
I since rang back but from a blocked line. He answered: Hello can I help you? I asked: Who have I rung there. I got an "ow...". I asked same question again. He cowardly just hung up again.
The caller was male. Sounded Indian/Middle-eastern. around 25 yrs old. didn't sound too bright... Barely smart enough to dial a number but at least 30 cents short of the dollar. Don't know where he got my details from, but I am a professional person and so my details are all over the internet. I would say he is just searching the internet and ringing around. Probably ringing from a 3rd world country and channelling through to Canberra... And taking money from the mouths of his countrymen women and kids through the cost of the calls!
My guess is he has some sort of weird fascination with ringing unknown people and pretending to be someone of status that his minute brain could never possibly achieve for him in reality... Probably had his hand on it at the time... I expect he will probably ring back. ....Cant wait!
No doubt he is the apple in her eye of his brainless prossie mother. Damn whackjobs!
I have had 2 calls from this number today in Sydney too.
This number is cited in recorded messages left as voice mail purporting to come from the Commonwealth Public Prosecutor's Office. The message asserts that they have been repeatedly trying to make contact on behalf of the Australian Tax Office and that a warrant may be issued for an arrest unless one calls and co-operates. It is a scam as reported on Scamwatch. BUT try this for a clanger in stupidity. I had a call from Mr Marvin Smith who called me. I had said "hello" and there was the typical silence cue waiting for the call centre gimmick to begin. He never asked for anyone by name. I said"Who is calling?" He told me his name and said he was from the Commonwealth Public Prosecutor's Office. I said "Really?" (Incredulous tone). He said, "You don't believe me?" I said, "No. Too many scams and frauds." He then said I was a rectum and hung up. Three hrs later the phone rang, I answered and it was the recorded message. I give them the Academy Award for Incredible Stupidity.
