Had this number ring this morning - ignored as new it was a scam but they are still trying to fool people.
Total scam but sounded legit in beginning. Told him he must have the wrong person as I employ an accountant to do my tax so he threaten to take my child and place her/him in foster care! Lol thats when I handed his ass back to him... He then hung up.
Rang back and told him I was a detective with the federal police regarding a complaint.... Instant hang up.
I did a call back to 02 6169 1016 and was also told that I was going to be prosecuted for 1) Tax Crime and 2) Tax Fraud.
They give you their name, a BAT ID (????) and Customer Reference Number so it sounds very legit. They wanted me to pay straight away $3265.00 and when I said that I was unable to do this, I was put through to another man who started letting me know what I had to do. I then interrupted him to ask him why the ATO has put a bulletin out to say that this number is a scam. He hung up on me immediately.
Just got contacted by these people. When I called back they knew my full name so sounded like they may be something legit for half a second until I stated that they sounded dodgy and he responded with something like - well if you think it's dodgy why did you call back? Very smart arse/aggressive. The number showed up in my iPhone as YASS? (When iPhone predicts the caller?).

Received a call from this number 02 6169 1012 with electronic message to call back from department of public prosecutions... They then told me that I was being prosecuted for tax evasion.. When I told them my tax was up to date they became aggressive and told me I would be arrested that day unless I pay a fee to extend my trial date. The barrister on the phone line told me he was happy to stay on the line WHILE I drove to the shop to purchase a prepaid Visa card to pay a fee so they could extend my FEDERAL court case... um... HELLO!!!!!
