I claimed I have never infringed any law - he asked for my lawyer details which I refused to give. He said he will ask the police to arrest. Never heard of such arbitrary kind of government action. I am sure this is a big cheat. The police needs to look into this and keep this number under observation.
I received a call on my answering machine today to say we were under investigation from the ATO for tax evasion. The caller did not leave any reference number for me to call him back on. The ATO are not allowed to contact you personally they should always go through your accountant. The caller stated I should ring back on 02 61528694 or legal action will take place. Same guy, trying to get details. Obviously not a real ATO number, debt or prosecution department. He didn't give name or company. Tried call him back to let him know about it, but didn't get an answer.
Received a voice message quoting this number and then next day another voice message quoting (02) 61528673 no name nor company given. Mentioned if I did not return the call there would be legal consequences.
At this stage I have ignored both calls and put myself on the "do not call register.".
This is definitely a scammer trying to get information from you! DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO. Especially pertaining to your finances or your whereabouts.
