Women’s voice, no particular accent, probably Australian, very practiced & almost monotonic, albeit had a little difficulty pronouncing (stumbled over a little) the words “Australian” and “surveillance”.
I got a call then a recorded message played with a womans voice.
"This is the Australian Taxation Office phoning to tell you there is an affidavit against your name. Where you are been listed as a primary suspect for the case been filed against your name and your house is under surveillance. So do not disregard this message and call me back ASAP on 0261528679. I repeat it's 0261528679. Remember delay in calling back me will bring Legal prosecution. Thank you.
I called back & an Indian guy answered asked me my name - I said first lets start with your name & what the recorded message is about. My husband is a solicitor, standing beside me and wants to know where this affidavit is - the guy on the other end of the line told me get lost you have the wrong number.
Same as the other comments. Threatening computer generated voicemail and even more threatening and aggressive discussion with a man with a very thick Indian (not sure) accent called "David Brown". Don't return the call or hang up in them if you pick up the call. Report it to the ATO via their scam phone line.
I got the same call to. Same voicemail message. Silly bugger forgot ppl have more than 1 phone. Called him back on a lanline and with a very childish hello he piped up and said you do realise this is the office of Adriance King! Once I responded with you do realise your scam is being reported he hung up quick smart. Im going to play a little with him. See how he likes being played on himself. Might pull my police hat out now. And my research skills have delivered he is either in canberra or yass. Wish me luck.

I received a voicemail from this number today also, hvaing no idea what its regarding I googled the number and found this thread, anyone whom has received this recently can you confirm this is a scam and I should not call this number back ??

I got this call today as well, and it scared me, how did they get my phone number? I hope the police look into it and make them pay a big fine for it.

Claiming to be from public prosecution with a threat.
Of arrest for underpaying tax to ATO.
Tried to bully me.
Will report to police, hope he gets what coming to.

Thank you for sharing this information. I receivd the same wierd message on answering machine telling something about 'registering criminal case' against me for 'tax invasion'. As a lwyer I know that criminal cases are not being 'registered' in Australia. I was first shoked, but then the use of language made me to go and Google the number. I am going to report it to the AFP and ATO.
This is a scammers number. They scared the shit out an elderly client claiming to be from the ATO and that if they didn't pay today they would be arrested. Hope the bastards get arrested themselves.
Got a call from 02 6152 8679 today saying they were from the Federal Police claiming they have started criminal actions against me due to ATO fraud and Tax evation. The idiot left a message on my answering machine so I have proof of their scam call. Now it's my turn to call the Federal Police. Hopefully the can stop this criminal.
