Seem to now be ringing from 02 8317 1126. Same deal the guy said his name was David Orton! I asked him a few tough questions and the line went dead!!
I received a message on my home line to immediately ring this number (02 652 8629) and advise them of my lawyers name as there is a tax evasion and fraudulent claim against me.(something to that effect) They said this was the number for head office? Tax department???. His name was Gavin Shaun and to me he used American terms. I rang it twice and it was engaged both times. Thank you to all who have written on this site to let others, like myself, know that it is all a scam.
So I had a threatening message left on my phone from a different number (0730187514) telling me I was being charged with Tax Evasion and will be arrested if I do not call this number 0261528629. Tried to call both numbers back several times only to be hung up on or forced to listen to shitty music. This number has previously scared my grandmother and now they are after myself and mother after we out in a complaint about them. I hope someone catches these scammers and those the freaking book at them. Absolutely disgusting to try and scam people, especially older people out of there money!
Had a call from this number, silence for about 10 seconds then maybe a few seconds of garbled noise before it disconnected. Googled the number and found this, was a bit quiet at work so thought I'd call back and have some fun - got answered after a bit and a woman answered the phone and said it was the Tax Office, sorry but it was too late in the day, everyone had gone home and I'd have to call back.
Seems legit....not.
David Orton again. He hung up when I confronted him about where in the ATO he worked. I never let him get to the bit about asking me for money. Why don't the authorities shut down this phone number, and 02 6152 8665 which was the same?
Just received a call from david orton. Big scam.I told them the federal police are on their heels.
Scam just like everyone else...."Jason O'Conner from the ATO" left a message on my answering machine, telling me that the police would be around shortly to arrest me, (for tax evasion) if I didn't ring him back on 02 6152 8629.
Pretty sure this is the same guy that rang my elderly mother a couple of weeks ago and scared the absolute crap out of her! So sick of these scumbags doing this, especially to elderly people.
Not happy!
This guy called my nanna and freaked her out. She locked the doors and was so scared that the police were going to knock down her door. That she didn't want to call them. This guy is a scam and as soon as he speaks in his muttered voice you can tell. But he needs to be stopped. So nobody falls for his tricks.
Just received a phone message from Jason O'Connor who supposedly works for the ATO. He told me a law suit has been filed against my name for tax evasion, and a warrant had been issued for my arrest. Wanted me to call him back on 02 61528629.
What an idiot! Hope no one falls for this scam.
Received a phone call from Jason O'Connor today saying he was from the ATO and we needed to call him asap to avoid being arrested because of tax lawsuit. Scammer.
I received the same call today, saying he was from the ATO and I was going to get arrested for tax evasion.
Wa, just had a threatening call from "Jason o'connel" who said he was from ato saying I'm going to be arrested if I do not put $7991.95 into a bank account TODAY.
I asked his id number, it is 3103.
As I cannot pay the money he told me I will be arrested today and will be put into jail.
Got a voice message from Jason O'Connor this afternoon on a landline - and we only got number a month ago. Tried calling back - engaged. Very suspicious.
A friend received a call (message) from the same number, same person who did not identify his workplace (ATO) but said it was a matter of 'legal importance'. The caller, if it is the same person has a Facebook page which has him located in New Delhi!
Someone from this number called my friend and left a message saying they were from the ATO and that they needed to call the number otherwise they would be arrested.
I was house sitting. When I called the number the guy (Asian sounding) said his name was Jason Oconnors. I called back and what sounded like the same guy called himself David Orton and his work Id # was 8419.
All sounds very suspect to me.
S/E Asian sounding man left message claiming to be from Australian Tax Office, name of Jason O'Connor, saying he was in Sydney and that there was a lawsuit against us, you need to call us, etc.
