Automated message left on answering machine advising urgent attention required re tax audit. Did not bother calling back as the real ATO have tax agent details on file.

They say australian taxatian office.

I did call but no one.

Got a call saying they're from the ATO and that there's a "time sensitive personal matter" that needs my urgent attention. Can anyone spell "dodgy"?

D
Dorrance

They are now calling business numbers saying the ATO is doing an audit. Dodgy as. It is clearly an automated interpreter because the language is off and the intonation is just like you get on an automated payment service.

I just received a call from a number claiming that I had won a $4200 from the Australian Federal Government and was asked to call 02 61003390 and give some personal details so that the money could be transferred to me via moneygram. Apparently the Australian Federal Govt has selected 12 tax payers to win a Christmas bonanza!!! When I asked if it is a scam, I was told that the person was not authorized to give all details as the conversation was recorded, but the superviser on the above number would be able to reassure me that it isn't a scam!! Obviously, I'm not calling the number as I never applied for any grants in the first place!

Asmussen

Call asking me to call this number as I have won a government grant. I have not applied for one.
