    Received a message to call back this number.

    When I called, they presented themselves as the ATO. I could make out the 'Indian' in their voice. They insisted that they would arrest me today but I could avoid that if I made arrangement to pay the debt.

    When I called his bluff by saying my lawyer would call him, he said OK.

    Then when I said that I recorded the call & that the AFP would be dealing with the matter - he dropped the call.

    Got phone message from 02 6064 2017 on 27 June 2016 from foreign speaking woman claiming ATO tax avoidance by me and taking legal action and warrant. Be wary and don't call the number back. Just a big scam and fraud. Kept a recording of the message in case it happens again and may contacti the Police and fraud squad.

    Yes, we received a call today on our answering machine, same as above, saying they are from the ATO, saying there is a legal lawsuit against us concerning a tax fraud, wanting us to call 0260642017 for more info about case and Threatened to take legal action against us. We called this number 7 pm beep beep beep. We searched on the net and found this and other sites saying others also have received call from this number saying similar.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
