Have you received a call from 02 5872 7550? Users report it as a suspicious telemarketer potentially linked to investment scams. Learn how to protect yourself from unwanted calls and verify who called you.

The phone number 02 5872 7550 has recently been flagged by users, raising concerns about its legitimacy. Based on user reports, the nature of the calls made from this number appears to straddle the line between a telemarketing effort and an investment scam.

One particular review dated 5 February 2025 describes an interaction with an individual claiming to be from a financial advisory firm. The caller, who spoke with an Indian accent, attempted to engage the caller in a discussion about linking themselves to brokers and various investment goals. Crucially, the caller failed to provide an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) number or identify who they represented as an authorised representative. This lack of transparency is a strong red flag.

Given these elements, it is prudent to classify 02 5872 7550 / 0258727550 as a suspicious telemarketer. The aggressive nature of the calling strategy, along with the absence of mandated disclosures, raises valid concerns about the intentions behind the call. Such practices are often associated with callers aiming to mislead individuals into potentially scamming them, especially in the realms of financial services where regulations are strict and consumer protection paramount.

What should you do if you receive a call from this number? Here are some helpful tips:

  • Do not engage: Avoid providing personal or financial information over the phone.
  • Scrutinise: If you feel pressured or confused, hang up and research the company claiming to call you.
  • Report: Consider reporting the number to the relevant authorities, such as the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) or the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).
  • Utilise Reverseau: Use a reverse phone lookup Australia service to verify the identity behind the calls you receive.

In conclusion, while 02 5872 7550 may initially present itself as legitimate through its financial advisory claims, the absence of critical compliance and transparency strongly suggests a telemarketing operation that could lead toward a scam. It is essential to stay vigilant and protect yourself from potential threats by verifying unknown callers through trustworthy resources.

A caller from a financial advisory firm, which I did not catch the name of, contacted me. The representative had an Indian accent and began talking about linking myself to brokers and investment goals without providing an Australian Financial Services Licence or disclosing their authorization details. This makes me think it could be a telemarketer at best, or a scam at worst.
