The primary aim of these callers appears to be a malicious attempt to obtain personal information or gain remote access to computers.

The Scam Unveiled

User experiences indicate a recurring pattern: calls from this number are often made from individuals with foreign accents who claim to represent well-known financial institutions. Reports from several individuals describe instances where callers falsely asserted that there were issues with internet connections or suspicious bank transactions. Said he was "mark Williams" from Telstra technical dept. Did I know they were going to disconnect my internet access tomorrow for 15 days? Like the old "I'll fix your computer" - scam. Gave me his purported Telstra employee no., and a number I could call him back on. But that number(02 8006 7324) was not the same as this, which my caller ID displayed. Absolute rogue, can't someone disconnect these creeps?

Received a call from this number just now, but as soon as I answered, they hung up. Tried to call them back, but get a continual busy tone. After reading the comments above, glad I didn't get to answer it.

Caller claimed to be "National Bank Security".

They knew my last name and claimed to be the National Bank Security Department. They said they were tracing a transaction on my bank account of $750 that seemed suspicious. While listening to them I checked my internet banking and there was no transaction. I said I was calling up on the other line to trace the call. They hung up. I then called the bank and they advised me that they had not called me and there was no transaction in question. Clearly they were trying to get info out of me to rob my bank account.

I am based in NZ and have had multiple calls from this number but have not answered the calls, so it goes straight to voice message. They never leave a number. Call back to the number is met with a disengage signal. I understand they are scammers. Annoying basically.
