Telstra Impersonation Scam Reports for 02 5514 3033
Ten community reports have been logged for 02 5514 3033 (also written as 0255143033), with a concerning pattern of Telstra impersonation attempts. Four contributors identified this as scam activity, two described the calls as suspicious or uncertain, and two confirmed legitimate Uber-related calls. The most serious reports involve callers falsely claiming Telstra affiliation and attempting to extract verification codes and personal information from recipients.
The impersonation tactic appears deliberate and sophisticated. One contributor nearly fell victim when a caller claiming to be from Telstra offered a discount on a mobile phone plan, then sent a password reset message to create false legitimacy. The contributor was asked to provide a verification code that had been sent via Microsoft, which delayed the scammer's attempt to complete account compromise.
What Callers from 02 5514 3033 Claim
Callers using 02 5514 3033 have impersonated Telstra representatives offering unsolicited discounts on mobile phone plans. The specific tactic involves requesting verification codes sent to the recipient's phone, allegedly to "prove" the caller's legitimacy as a Telstra employee.
One detailed report described how a caller from 0255143033 sent a password reset notification to the recipient's mobile to establish false credibility. The caller then demanded the recipient provide the verification code to complete the supposed discount application. The contributor only realised the deception when the verification code expired and the scammer requested a new one be generated.
A separate report noted a caller from 02 5514 3033 claiming to be from Telstra at 2:30 AM, which is an unusual time for legitimate customer service contact. This contributor did not answer the call initially but later investigated the number.
Report Patterns and Timing
The reports for 02 5514 3033 span multiple months, with the most recent impersonation attempt logged in January 2025. The data shows mixed contributor responses: some recognised the scam immediately or through delayed realisation (code expiration), while others remained uncertain about the caller's intent. Two contributors reported receiving calls from this number that were legitimate Uber driver or customer service communications, suggesting the number may be spoofed or misused for both scam and legitimate purposes.

This number called me Twice at 2:30 AM!! I wasn’t going to answer but maybe I should have lol looked into it and apparently scammers saying from Telstra, I don’t use Telstra ?
Scam caller claiming to be Telstra, giving a discount on my mobile phone plan.. Asked me for a verification code sent to me by Microsoft, almost got me when the person on the other end said she would prove she was from Telstra and sent me a reset password message to my mobile and I almost fell for it because I only glanced at it so I gave her the code but lucky for me it had expired and she needed to send me a new code and then I realised what was going on but I could have been scammed if that verification code didn’t expire.. Be careful!
