ATO scamster called again (third time), almost exactly one day after the first call yesterday. Returned to using tel.0253177017.

Further to my two previous comments below, I have just spoken to a guy in the ATO's 'scam' section. I was told that two of his last three callers had reported the same scam.

I was asked if I would like to leave my contact details with the ATO (optional) and I agreed to do so. The ATO guy said that his previous caller had a surname starting with the same two letters as mine and he assumed that the scamsters were working their way through a directory.

The ATO guy said that if anyone felt intimidated by the scamster, they could contact the Police to report threatening behaviour.

Well, it's nice to be popular! Just received another call from the ATO 'scamster' with an identical message to previously (below) but with a slightly different number ie.0253177009.

I intend drawing this scam to the attention of the ATO for whatever action they see fit.

Received recorded message identical to those reported previously ("from ATO, tax avoider, undeliverable notices", etc).

Obvious scam - but perhaps regulatory authorities ought to pay attention as caller (female, well-spoken) claims to be from ATO.

It's a scan I rang back and a man of indian accent answers and says 'office of the ATO'. What an idiot.

I could only understand a few words of the recorded message, "tax avoidance" and "petition". I received the same recorded message twice.

Scam!! Beware!!!!

Recorded message claiming to be from the ATO saying that a recent audit showed I was confirmed as a tax avoider (I have always paid my taxes) and multiple letters informing me of this was sent to my address and returned unsigned (my registered address is a business and operates every day 9-5pm).

As such a petition note has been filed against my name and possibly warrant for my arrest....

Called the ATO and my accountant and of course this is all untrue.

The call was a recorded message claiming to be from the Australian taxation department. It told me I haven't submitted any taxation and I have been put under audit and have a high probability of getting a significant fine and my be arrested.
