Understanding the Spam Caller: 02 5135 2568

The phone number 02 5135 2568 has been identified by multiple users as a spam caller. Descriptions from various recipients disclose a common theme: automated messages targeted specifically at people of Chinese descent, suggesting a dubious motive behind the calls. The recurring nature of these calls serves as a clear indication of its spam classification, prompting users to exercise caution.

User Reports and Analyses

  • Spam Messaging: Users have reported receiving voicemails stating they should press ‘2’ if they were Chinese, which is not only irrelevant but also raises concerns about the call's legitimacy. Such messages are typical of spam calls aimed at fishing for information or leading recipients into potential scams.
  • Emergency Alerts: Another report suggests the call claimed it was an "emergency alert", a tactic sometimes used by scammers to invoke urgency and manipulate the receiver into responding without thinking.
  • Geographical Discrepancy: Callers noted that the callers appear to be originating from a private number in Bungendore, NSW – a location that bears no relevance to many recipients. This geographic disconnect further solidifies the scam hypothesis and suggests the numbers could be spoofed or randomly generated.

Classification of the Caller

Based on the collective user experiences, 02 5135 2568 is classified as a spam caller. The automated nature of the messages, coupled with the requests for users to identify themselves based on a nationality, aligns with typical spam tactics aimed at exploiting personal details from targets.

Received a call from 02 5135 2568. When answered it went to voice recording asking if we were Chinese …we hung up and blocked the number. We seemed to got more of similar calls since we bought goods from Kogan. Unclear if related.

Caller ID says the caller is from private number in Bungendore NSW. Message left was stating it was an emergency alert and if I was Chinese to press 2. I am neither Chinese nor in the area of Bungendore NSW. Don’t even know anyone at that place. Scam caller seemingly. Note my number is not registered anywhere nor given away as is new. I wonder if service provider has mandatory role in ensuring numbers aren’t released.
