When I called this number back, I was informed that a $300 purchase had been made from a mobile phone. This raised a red flag for me, and I hung up without further engagement.
I regard this call as a scam. I let the phone ring and later checked the voicemail, which contained an automated message claiming to be eBay. It stated that a purchase request for $299 had been made on my account and that the amount would be deducted unless I pressed certain keys on the keypad. I do not use eBay, so I am sure this is fraudulent.
I received a message stating that $299.99 has been debited from my account for a purchase. It instructed me to press various numbers to confirm. I believe this is a scam and will delete the message.
The caller claimed to be from eBay and warned that money would be deducted from my account if I did not press one of the three numbers they provided on my keypad. I didn’t answer the call, so this message was on my voicemail.
