Crypto Investment Scam Reports for 02 4875 9438

One contributor has reported a crypto investment scam involving a call from 02 4875 9438 (also written as 0248759438). The scam centres on a fraudulent investment visa scheme targeting superannuation and pension holders, with the caller impersonating a legitimate investment advisor named Diana Novak.

The contributor was initially drawn in through what appeared to be authentic ABC News coverage discussing investment opportunities. The scam involved references to 'Monaro Bondleigh' as a supposed investment product combined with visa eligibility claims. When the contributor declined to provide immediate commitments and requested time to verify the offer with their husband, the caller followed up with an email sent to a rarely-used email address the contributor had mentioned.

What Callers from 02 4875 9438 Say

The contributor received a call claiming to discuss investment and visa opportunities tied to pension income. The caller, identifying as Diana Novak, gathered information about the contributor's pension arrangements and presented the offer as time-sensitive, requiring immediate decision-making.

The initial contact hook was designed to appear legitimate - referencing what the contributor later discovered was a fabricated ABC News video promoting the investment scheme. This suggests the scammers use deepfake or stolen video content to build credibility before the actual call pitch. The caller's request for pension income details indicates targeting of older Australians with superannuation or pension savings.

How the Scam Operated

This scam combines multiple manipulation tactics. The fake news video creates false legitimacy, the investment visa angle appeals to aspirational financial goals, and the immediate follow-up email to a secondary address suggests the scammers maintain detailed records of contacted prospects. The caller's acceptance of a delay (pending the contributor's conversation with their spouse) followed by email contact shows persistence in attempting to close the deal.

I responded to what I now know is a scam/ fraud following fake news video purporting to be ABCNews. Gave no detail other than my pension income. Said I could make no decision before I spoke with my husband this evening (because I wanted to check validity of the whole story)

She has sent an email to me on a little used email address that I gave.. She is Diana Novak.

The whole scheme is Scam fake news.

Frequently Asked Questions

How did the scammer from 02 4875 9438 get my rarely-used email address?

The contributor mentioned their email address during the call with 02 4875 9438 (0248759438), not realising the caller was running a scam. The caller then used this address to send follow-up materials. This suggests scammers are trained to extract contact details during initial conversations. Never provide secondary email addresses or phone numbers to unknown callers, even if the call seems legitimate.

Why do scammers from 0248759438 ask about pension income?

Pension and superannuation holders are targeted because they typically have accumulated savings and may be seeking investment growth. The mention of 'Monaro Bondleigh investment visa' combined with pension questions indicates this scam specifically targets retirees or near-retirees. Scammers assume this demographic may be less familiar with online investment verification and more influenced by investment-linked visa claims.

Is the ABC News video about 02 4875 9438 investment schemes real?

No. The contributor discovered the ABC News video referenced during the call from 02 4875 9438 was fabricated. Scammers use deepfake technology or stolen video content to impersonate major news outlets. Always verify news stories directly through the ABC's official website or social media channels, never through links or videos shared by callers.

What should I do if I already gave personal details to 02 4875 9438?

If you provided pension income information to 02 4875 9438 (0248759438) but no account details: monitor your email and mail for suspicious activity, block the number immediately, and report to Scamwatch. If you provided bank, superannuation, or investment account details: contact your financial institution immediately to secure your accounts and consider a fraud alert with your bank.

How can I verify if an investment advisor is legitimate before answering questions about 0248759438 or similar calls?

Legitimate financial advisors are licenced and registered. Check ASIC's Financial Advisers Register at asic.gov.au before providing any information. Never provide details based on a caller claiming to be an advisor - instead, look up the company independently and call them back using a number from their official website. Do not use contact details the caller provides.

Why do scammers from 02 4875 9438 accept when you say you need to check with your spouse?

Scammers accept delays because they're using a multi-contact strategy - they expect to follow up via email (as the caller did) or phone after giving you time to 'think it over'. This creates false legitimacy and allows them to refine their pitch. Saying you'll 'check' doesn't protect you - the scammer will contact you again. It's better to firmly decline and block 0248759438 immediately.
