Reported by an Australian user on 14 September 2021, this number is said to belong to a caller who claimed to be with Telstra's National Broadband Network (NBN) but raised immediate red flags as a suspicious contact.
Why is This Call Suspicious?
Consumer reports indicate that the individual behind this number presented themselves as a representative from Telstra, creating a facade that could easily mislead unsuspecting victims, particularly those awaiting legitimate calls regarding their broadband services. The way the caller communicated, coupled with the timing of offers or inquiries, is a classic tactic used by scammers to exploit customer feelings and situations.
Types of Calls and Identification
This situation illustrates a common issue known as vishing or voice phishing, where scammers employ social engineering techniques to gain personal information or financial data. The characteristic signs to classify a call as suspicious include:

- Requests for personal information under the guise of urgency.
- Unprofessional call etiquette or accents that fit a known scam pattern.

Indian guy calling as Telstra National Broadband Network. Coincidentally Im awaiting a call from TPG about my National Broadband Network connection problems so someone could easily be fooled by this. I knew it was a scammer though as I have nothing to do with Telstra and subconciously I am suspicious of Indian callers. I wanted to toy with the guy so I started to ask questions to waste his time but he must have caught wind of it and hung up. Damn!
