Identifying the Characteristics of the Scam

It's a scam!

Received a call from this number in Moruya NSW telling me my debit card may have been compromised ($499 international transaction). He sounded convincing but I couldn't see this transaction in my bank app. I almost fell for this but got suspicious particularly when he wanted me to download an app (Zoho Assist)-possibly for remote access. Told him I was hanging up and will call the bank. He was losing his patients with me. Said that if I didn't do it there's no guarantee that I will be able to recover this $. I hung up and called the bank who checked all my accounts and advised me that it was a scam. My accounts haven't been compromised.

Please be careful! Trust your gut! Banks will not freak out if you say you'll call their 13 number and sort it out that way.
