I got the same call. So I called back and telling me the same so I said I pay my tax all the time and I just hang up. What happens though if someone got that same call and gave them his mobile number?

I feel sorry for some elderly people who I know have received calls like this and have put money into these scammers hands to pay a supposed tax debit.

First got a call from 061837244070025. Really weird number so gave it away it was a scam. Then they called on this number. Didn't know the ATO had relocated it debt collection agency to Batemans Bay. Might apply for a job with them. Living by the sea, collecting tax. Sounds ideal to me. Lol.
Scammers entertained them for some time just so they didn't have time to scam someone else.

Yes I received this call from that number too, saying about the tax evasion too. You know straight away it's a scam as they don't even say your name and it sounds like they are reading from a script idiots.

Same as all others responding, received a couple of threatening and unconvincing messages regarding taxes. Called back just to see what they would say, rang for a while and then went to a normal voice mail, obviously not a government phone line, clearly a scam.
Received a phone call from this number @10:30 am this morning stating this is the tax office & I'm to call back in regards to my tax invasion & not to disregard this phone call or I'd have police at my door step or at my work place.
As above, also got a call claiming to be the Taxation Office threatening me due to Tax Avoidance. I hope this information is passed on to the Tax Office?

Just received a voicemail re above comments from 0244070025 claiming to be from ATO and instructing me to call back or face legal proceedings. Funnily enough, ending the phone call by saying "have a good day". I never answer a phone call from a number I do not recognise. If someone wants to speak to you urgently they can leave a message.

Had a call on this same number saying it was the final notice before the matter is reported to the Commonwealth and that the police will be notified. Scammers.
Just got a call from this number didn't answer and got a text "You missed a call from 0244070025, who said "This call is just to inform you that we received a legal complaint under your name. It is regarding a tax avoidance and tax evasion. So before we go.".
Thought it sounded sketchy googled it and thankfully found this page. Glad I did as it's only my first time doing my taxes.

I did not answer but then received a text message that I had to call (02)44070025 to talk before they instruct the commonwealth that I avoid tax... Got a call and a voice mail from this number. Spoke to an Indian man who asked for my name. Refused to give it. Started threatening me with arrest. Still refused. Then changed to profanity. Hung up and placed a complaint with the ATO. They should be taught a lesson.

I just received a pre-recorded call from this number stating that I owe the ATO (Australian Taxation Office), money and a that I need to call a number to fix this. I didn't get a chance to get the so called number I am meant to call. I will be contacting and following this up with the ATO. Least to say I'm not a happy camper about this as I always pay my tax.
