I keep getting calls from this number - I now refuse to answer. Can anyone stop this?

I have been getting calls from this number a few times everyday over the last few weeks. There is always a person with a strong accent at the other end trying to assure me that it is a genuine call from Telstra, informing me that there is a major problem with my internet and that he/she can guide me through the steps to resolve this problem. Today I was threatened with a stoppage to my internet service for three months unless I do as they say! When I challenged them on the authenticity of their claim and demanded that the matter be sent to me in a formal written letter from Telstra, the line was cut immediately. I reported the scam to Telstra, which confirmed that they would never deal with issues like that over the phone. Telstra has blocked that number from my call list and hopefully I will not be harassed anymore.

I get two or three calls a day in quick succession but phone only rings once then cuts off. I've tried returning call (to abuse them) but never get through.

Received a call from this number. My mother answered and couldn't understand a word so I took the phone from her. A Indian guy apparently from Telstra and it was extremely noisey back ground. Told me my computer was sending corrupted messages to Telstra. I didn't let him go further. I told him that I didn't have the internet at home, that he was a scamming con-artist and that I would contact the police if he continued to harass us. Fingers crossed the moron stops!

I have had this number call me up to 3 times a day after clicking on a Woolworths scam email.

I've been receiving calls from this number at 1-2 calls per day... It only started at my house when my Mothers phone calls got redirected through my phone. My Mum is elderly & they have tried to be as cunning as possible to get credit cards out of her. I'm going to have words with The Telstra Team.

Scam.... I had the same Sean Parker then decided to play along, he transferred me to a "level 5" technician who said he could tell me my name, IP address, or ISP. He said all internet traffic in Australia goes through the Telstra "mother" server so they could see something was wrong with my computer, and whenever I used the internet it downloaded corrupted files. He later said this happened whether the computer was switched on or not LOL.

He got me to open a DOS prompt and run the ASSOC command (not sure why he wanted to flash past all my file associations, perhaps to dazzle me?). He then asked me to open the Event Viewer and view the Administrative Events log. All those items with red Xs and yellow exclamation marks were very bad he said, and were slowing down my computer.

I had asked both of the "Telstra" guys to tell me early on what their proposed solution was, but they refused to say, diverting off onto other topics immediately.

I got a bit tired of them repeatedly asking if I saw a flashing object in the DOS window, even though I had said multipe times earlier "Yes I do see the flashing prompt", and accidentally said he didn't need to ask me to look for a flashing object, I probably knew more about Windows than he did. As soon as I said that he hung up. Next time I will string them along all the way I think, just for fun.

By the way a female from the same number called the day before and I told her she was a cheat and a liar before she had a chance to get into much detail, so many times that she hung up.

It really is fun stringing them along if you have the time and inclination.

Have received numerous calls from this number in the past few weeks, and I've either hung up or not answered. However, as they keep trying, I decided to play along. The man with an Indian accent said that there was a problem with my computer accessing the internet and leaving corrupted files on the Telstra server and they would fix it for me. I said that I was leaving my office and couldn't assist at this point in time and that I would call them back in the morning. I didn't, of course. So, this afternoon, they tried again with the same spiel. I said "oh, I called Telsta technical department this morning and ...." Didn't get any further as they disconnected the call. Hope that makes them stop calling!!

This number is a scam. I rang the REAL Telstra and ran the number past them and they said do not entertain in these phone calls. The person who rang "David" gave me another number to call back on 03 5294 0316 and I rang him back and told him I had reported the numbers to Telstra as being a scam and he promptly ended the conversation!!

Numerous calls from this number, very persistent. When I spoke to the caller he identified himself as "Sean Parker" from the Telstra service department (he's fallen a long way since founding Napster obviously), and even after I threatened to call the police he continued to insist that my internet was about to be turned off, until an associate of his recommended that he hang up. Very strange.

Had a call from an Indian sounding man telling me that I had problems with my computer. On questioning him he came back with my name & address (which was accurate). He then told me that as I would not comply with his request, my computer line would be disconnected. I suggested that he could proceed with the process.

I let them go on for a while then I say "Hang on, there is someone at my front door" and I keep doing what I was doing before I was interrupted. They usually hang up but once (after about 15 mins) I picked up the phone and the caller was still there!

Caller representing Telstra just called wanting access to my computer but when she couldn't tell me my name then she got angry as I said I was calling the police.

This number has called at 1.30pm today and just again at 9.35pm I do not appreciate receiving unsolicitored phone calls especially at this time of day! Something has to be done to detect who they are!

Indian caller saying they are from Telstra and said I have a computer problem. I asked them for their details so I could contact them back later. I contacted Telstra who said they had no log of any call to me nor any reason to call me. I think it is a dubious number.

L

This number calls everyday at the same time at around 1.30pm. The people have an Indian accent saying they are calling from Telstra because they have found a fault in my computer. They try and get to follow procedures to eliminate the problem.
