    Received a call from this number. After answering there was a lag. Then a woman with an Indian voice was asked if XXXXX was my name, and that they have a package to deliver. I asked where she was calling from, and she did not answer, and kept asking me if XXXXXX was my name, which I did not answer. I then hung up. This has all the smell of a scam, with someone potentially wanting to match a phone number with a name and address.

    Apparently I entered a competition (which I have not) and they are sending me and my partner (I don't have one) to Disneyland. He kept talking over the top of me and trying to get me to answer yes. Block this number!!

    They called my mobile number and told me I'd won a trip to Florida. They said I'd won it through visiting a site on my work computer (they mentioned my workplace). I had had similar calls to this so I knew they would ask for an upfront payment, so I said "Not interested" and hung up. They didn't call back. The number came up as "Wollongong".

    I missed the call, fortunately, when I rang back there was a message "I had dialed an outgoing number only". So to me it's a telemarketer or the like.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
