Scam call pretending to be Australian Government.
Date called twice - 21 August 2024 - Left voicemail once saying I have missed a call from Australian Government. It gave options to press numbers to go through to someone, something... Which I did not. I believe it is definitely a scam.
I flagged this call as "Potential fraud". It was an automated message stating, "... 0direct.your call ... if you don't know ... press ..." which raised red flags for me.
On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, at 6:03 PM, I received a call from a scammer claiming to be from "Basic Technology," located in Wollongong, NSW 2500. The call was made via the telecommunications provider 'GoTalk Limited.' I am frustrated by how companies are seemingly allowed to misuse and hijack our personal phone numbers. I have since blocked and deleted this number from my device.
I received a call with a recorded message prompting me to select a language—either English or Chinese. I suspect this is a scam, so I have blocked the number.
