    I did not answer the phone call but the number left an automated message claiming to be Optus, requesting I return their call. Later, I confirmed with Optus if this number is used by them and they confirmed it was not one of their listed numbers and that it is a scammer.

    This landline number 02 4201 0663 called to my mobile phone and when I picked up, it went to recorded machine voice “This is ADR, please call back to discuss your finance matter” which confused me. So I Google what is ADR to see what that is and it means Alternative Dispute Resolution. I thought they might come from my ex husband if he wants to discuss through mediation or something so I called back. A girl picked up and asked for my full name, I didn’t tell her but I asked her what is your company and what it is doing because I received phone call from this number such and such, she said she would not tell me when she does not know who I am. So I just said bye because I suspected it is a scam, because I’ve been working with many companies and their calls services none of them acting or saying like that if they are genuine.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
