    A man with a strong Indian accent called me from phone number (02) 4062 0500 claiming to be from Origin Electricity, and wanted to speak with me about my account. I immediately knew it was another scam call as I am not with Origin Electricity. I'm currently quite ill with Covid 19 for the second time, and have been left with long Covid since I first had it for over a month in January 2022, so I was feeling frustrated and fed up with the continual scam callers, texts, emails, etc., which I and many people around the world are experiencing daily. In an angry voice I told him, Stop trying to scam us. We aren't with Origin Electricity. I immediately hung up on him and saved the number in my phone naming it, SCAM Caller - Origin Electricity - Indian. Several hours later my phone rang and I saw it was him again, so I rejected the call and so far it's been over 12 hours and no more calls from that number. I hope my review helps, and saves many people from being continually scammed. {\0/}

    Scam.

    $99.99 if I did make the Oder call the number. Female robotic voice.

    It’s taking potential numbers for future scams, if you call back your number will be forwarded/sold as a potential candidate. Keep that in mind if you did.

    I received a call from (02) 4062 0500 and let it go to voicemail. The voicemail said, in a recorded robotic female voice with an Australian accent, that my account had been debited $299.99 and if this payment wasn't authorised I needed to call 613612425954 to cancel it.

    This seemed suspicious to me as I've made no such purchases and have very good scam protection on my bank accounts. Obviously after reading this website I can see it is a scam as suspected.

    THIS NUMBER IS A SCAM! They called me and claimed they were eBay and someone brought a $300 gift card with my account. Then they proceeded to tell me to download an app called ‘quick support’ (a screen recording app). They were going to hack into my banking account. BLOCK THIS NUMBER. Indian scammers!

    DODGEY AS HELL! Do NOT give them information. They rang saying they are from eBay (With Newcastle NSW number) Do not speak clear english, and stated that a transaction had been made on my eBay account for $219 for a purchase of a JB HI gift card. When I asked them what account had been used as they claimed the transaction was done two days ago they could not tell me what account it had come from and then stated it was paid from a card, and again couldn't tell me what card number it was. They began to ask me questions if I had internet on the phone which I said no, they claimed they needed a written confirmation I did not make the purchase. I told them if any money comes from my accounts I will be contacting my bank and the police. He then told me that the bank would not refund my money which is not true since it is a fraudulent transaction. The most stupid thing is I have the eBay account yet they rang my husband's phone number which is not linked to any eBay account. SCAM, be careful people.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
