PayPal scam call - automated voice thanking me for my order of many dollars and telling me to press 1 or call back to cancel the order.
The call originated from Newcastle, a location I'm unfamiliar with, so I chose not to answer. I've decided to block this number to prevent any future calls.
The call was regarding a supposed order for $299 that would be deducted from my account. The caller instructed me to press 1 or call back to cancel the order, which sounded like a scam.
When I called back this number that appeared as coming from Dungog, I got a message stating, "Thank you for shopping with PayPal. This is a confirmation call for a purchase request of $299.39, which will be automatically debited from your account. To cancel the order, press 1 or call back on this number." I definitely do not authorize this!
