I got a call from a woman claiming to be from Vodafone. She offered me a 25% discount on my plan, but requested that I confirm my 4-digit security code. When I replied that I worked for Vodafone (which I don't), she abruptly ended the call after I questioned her about the Promotions Department.

The number displayed as Dungog NSW.

No one responded when I answered the phone, but it sounded like a call centre in the background so I hung up :).

I received a call from a very fast talker from this number claiming to be from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. He started with "I know you are busy, but this is just a short 5 second survey for the Australian Bureau of Statistics (he knew my name).

He then fired off a bunch of questions starting with "just answer yes or no".

"Do you work full time - yes or no".

"Are you Married? - just say yes or no".

"is your combined income around $100.000?".

"do you own your home or do you have a mortgage?".

I tried not to say yes or no or use the option for answers he offered me. I wish I didn't say 'mortgage'. I should have just hung up straight away. I don't think The Australian Bureau of Statistics does phone surveys.

I.
