Why This is Classified as a Scam

Based on user experiences from reviews collected around mid-2021, the consistent theme has been identification of deceptive tactics employed by callers. Posing as "merchant support," they aim to lure unsuspecting recipients into sharing critical information. Here are some key points leading to this classification:

  • Repeated Calls: Users noted a persistent stream of calls, which is a common tactic among scam callers trying to wear down the recipient.
  • Unfamiliar Representatives: The communication style resembles that of an unprofessional telemarketing setup, including foreign accents and a lack of clarity about the 'company' they represent.

They keep calling! Asking about passwords and other information saying they are merchant support but they can’t even tell you what company they’re from.

Keeps calling and calling. Try and call back and it either ends call, tells you it’s not a number, or goes to a weird messenger. The one time I did answer the phone before it ring out the person on the other end sounded like they were in a foreign call centre or similar and was asking questions about passwords. Definitely a scam.
