What Our Users Reviewed
It seems like they are now pretending to be the "Australian Border Force," but the call was automated and generated by a robot.
A man with an accent from India called me claiming to offer a 30% discount on my OPTUS bill for three months, stating that I was a good customer. He sent a link that appeared to be from OPTUS and asked me to provide him with a code sent to me via text message. Recognizing this as a scam, I hung up, but he called me back from a different number!
The caller claimed they were offering a 30% discount from Optus and asked for a code that I had received via text. I provided the code, but it didn’t feel right, so I asked if it was a scam. The woman insisted it wasn’t and asked me to stay on the line, but I hung up. I later checked with Optus, and they confirmed they hadn't called me and there were no unusual activities on my account.
I did not answer a call from this unknown number and have since blocked it on my phone. Based on other reports, I believe it's best to avoid such calls, as anyone legitimate would leave a message. Reverse AU is an excellent resource for checking numbers.
