    The caller claimed they were conducting market research; however, it was clearly a sales call. As someone who works in market research, I'm aware of the usual practices. When I tried calling back, I was met with a message indicating it was a "marketing call." Despite several attempts to call back, I was only directed to a voicemail.

    I frequently receive calls from this area code. When I do pick up, they usually ask me for donations or try to sell a service, which makes me believe it's mostly telemarketers.

    A call came in from a Victorian number claiming to be from iCare, asking me about my health insurance, but their legitimacy is questionable since I don’t recall submitting any inquiries.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
