Why does Telstra let overseas scammers call through a Sydney number. I have been told Telstra could block these types of calls if they wanted to. Not sure if that's true, but I only get telemarketers and scammers calling my landline these days. Friends and family all call my mobile. So sick of these scammers and time wasters.
Indian guy with the thickest Indian accent...named....wait for it..... Jason O'Connor. What a joke. Tell them it's a scam and they'll abuse you and swear at you. Try it. It is hilarious. Indians swearing in English at you thinking you will be all insulted. Funniest thing ever.
I am an advocate for many elderly clients some with mental health conditions, I just had a call from one of these clients who had received a call from this number an Indian sounding man calling him self Simon Williams telling my client she had committed tax fraud and she was in a lot of trouble if she did not do anything about this immediately, he asked her how she was going to pay for this.
I called the number back and got Simon Williams and I asked him to relate to me what he had told my client as she is not well and is now in a very poor state, she told me he does not talk to me at all, I said do not ring this person again, and he hung up on me, I tried to call the number back but it not available.
Please do not talk to this person and do not give him your bank account details, this is a SCAM.......
Had a call from this number stating it was taxation dept. When I said BS you are not he called me a f... Ing idiot I stated I was calling police he hung up.
These idiots at it again. I'm a tax agent so don't bother trying to scam me. So many people know about this scam now. Happened last tax season as well and made it onto the radio. F*king losers.
This is a tax fraud scam number. They left a message on my landline stating that there was a warrant issued in my name due to bad tax. They left this number for me to call back on. It was obviously from a call centre as you could here other people speaking in the background. The caller spoke good English but had a discernible accent most likely south East Asian.

Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.
Call or message may be a scam if:
You're asked for personal information or money;
Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
The caller wants to access and control your computer.
To protect yourself:
Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
Do not send any money.
Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
