This is a legit caller. They are AAMI/SUNCORP insurance department that deals with refunds. They owed me a refund for insurance mistake they made a few years ago. They only need your name and DOB to confirm identity and BSB and ACC to send funds.

A scam and one that obviously has links with someone who works in the insurance industry who steals some information and uses this. Dodgy as hell for mine.

This call was the 5th attempt to get us to hand over personal information. It appears to be part of a sophisticated scam to make a false claim against our insurance. They seem particularly keen on organising a hire car as a replacement vehicle, which is a well known tactic for 'not at fault' recovery agents whereby they charge insane rates for car hire while the vehicle involved in the accident is repaired.
