    Same as everyone else - I received a text message from ProbeGroup requested I call them in relation to an "urgent" matter.

    I called twice and was on hold for 7+ minutes. Perhaps it's a reverse call charge?

    After reading the above comments I am inclined to delete and ignore this message. I have not been on Centrelink for 4 years and so it seems highly likely to be a scam.

    Total SCAM!!!

    They said they were working for Centrelink in order to recover a debt.

    I haven't had Centrelink for over a decade.

    They then tried to get me to call a number they said was Centrelink (1800 086 400)...that number is NOT Centrelink!

    I contacted Centrelink via MyGov directly and they said there was no debt!!!

    I got an SMS to call this number. "Probe Group" blabla...

    I just deleted it. I'm not calling some random number for some company I've never heard of.

    I got a message from this number and they made me wait and wait and wait so I hung up.

    If its urgent why such a long wait for.

    As far as im concerned its not inportant if made to wait for more than a minute. If its urgent they should answer immediately! Plus im not on centerlink. Been doing what they said to to look for a job! Got a job! Not on centerlink!

    They sure know how to be a pain still. I don't owe anything to them! I followed the rules what more do they want!

    I got a call earlier in the week from this company and was told I owe Centrelink over $4k. I laughed at him and hung up.

    I'm following this up now. I have paid my Centrelink debt through another agency so was surprised to receive repeated SMS from Probe. I rang the Probe group website & they seem legitimate but have no record of the DT# I was given - interesting. I'm pretty sure above number is a scam so God forbid the fate of the first responder who paid them. My advice - don't divulge your detail to the foreigners at the above call centre.

    I had a Centerlink Debt (from an old loan that I had all but forgotten about), Centerlink confirmed that they had passed on my info to this group for recovery.

    Whilst on the phone to Centerlink I organized payment with them avoiding the debt collection agency altogether.

    Don't ignore this one guys, the Australian Government uses this organization (Probe) to recover debts, so not contacting them (or the organization you have the debt with) may effect your credit rating, or worse.

    Got the standard sms. Phoned the number. They proceeded to tell me I had a human services debt, then asked for my personal details. Phoned centrelink and they said that they never use Probe group and that I had no debt. Scam!

    Message from The Probe Group regarding an urgent matter. Please call us on 1300 024 718 and quote DT.......

    This is a debt collection agency, don't know why they'd be calling me. Never received mail/phone call so figure is a scam.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
