    Called saying he was from Telstra and my number had been selected to receive 50% off my next bill and for the next few months, asking if my phone number was correct etc. Very inconvenient time when he called so I asked him to send details in an email (if he was in fact from Telstra) then I hung up.

She went through the transaction details and when she said that she'll connect me to my bank I told her that was not necessary and that I'll call my bank directly she hung up. Dam scammers.

    Called, no message left. Googled the number to see if anyone else had been called by this number, so I’m glad I didn’t answer.

    Tried to tell me he was from Telstra and wanted to speak to me about my home internet which I don’t have. Seemed dodgy as spoke about my new home address and email address which I hadn’t given Telstra previously. I contracted Telstra, said it wasn’t them.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
