    Clearly a spam call. Asked how I was. I replied and then asked Daniel how he was. He replied that he was “not well” and hung up. Why do these nitwits bother?

    Called saying there was suspicious activity on my mobile phone internet and that they were part of a free government initiative You could hear a lot of noise in the background. Did not trust it as it wasn't a known number and I didn't request for any check ins.

    Someone with Indian accent saying that he was from Commonwealth Bank that I had some unusual activities this morning, then not sure what he was saying because his English was hard to understand and there was people talking in the background. When I asked him what did he say, he hanged up the phone.

    As it was an unknown contact I just let it ring to see if they leave a voicemail. Scammers would not be likely to leave a record of their voice. No message left. Blocked the number.

    Rang to say that they were calling from Telstra and that for the last 3 days they had been receiving error messages from my internet connection. The line that they were calling from was bad and you could here other people talking in the background. When I told them that they were lying they quickly hung up. Number is now blocked.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
