    Claimed to be from National Broadband Network and that I had a slow connection in my street. I asked for the street name and he named it correctly. I said I don't mind a slow speed as I don't do gaming or anything else requiring speed. I thanked him for his call.

    Scammers pretended to be "calling about my National Broadband Network" then changed to my "mobile" when I said we don't have National Broadband Network - when pushed the woman had to guess where she was calling from and picked Vodaphone. Hung up on me when I said we weren't with Vodaphone.

    This number has been calling my place over and over, leaving no message and not talking when answered, only said hello once, with an indian accent, How is the number still circulating for over a year and being a nuisance, surely it can be traced back.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
