    Said he was from Commonwealth Bank Security, that someone in USA had accessed my account to transfer $800. Wanted me to verify ... asked for a number to call him back and conversation became heated. Eventually he told me to ‘shut my mouth and listen’, so I hung up. Obvious scam, but had a bit of fun getting cross at him.:) 6th May 2023 at 3pm.

    This number has called me twice this morning. Left not message.

    And when I called back from a business land line, the number just gives a constant out of order kind of tone.

    So clearly a scam call.

    Their claims where quite disturbing and they were going to take me through the repair process, that was when I hung up.

    It rang for less than a second, no voicemail left so assuming they want you to call back so they can scan you. Won’t be calling back, if it’s important they’ll call again.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
