    Text message saying I had a $10978 tax bonus. Looks like Hanes has moved on from wine scamming to tax scamming.

    Yet again 2 missed calls today and another a week ago, keep on blocking numbers and put in contacts, how many phone numbers do they get hold of, James sounds very nice on the phone but he is a pain in the butt.

    They ring and I also get messages letting me know of their great offers. Not sure how they got my number, as a new number comes up I block it doesn't seem to work.

    Looks like the $200.000 fine meant nothing. Would be nice if someone sat outside Oak Road Estate Wines at 357-361 Camberwell Rd, Camberwell and run James’ spam voicemail on repeat through loudspeakers in front of their business.

    The Wine Group is annoying but legitimate. They use aggressive direct marketing/cold calling as a sales tactic, using Salesforce. They were recently fined 100.000 for their tactics but are spammers rather than scammers acma.Government.au/articles/2022-05/wine-group-pays-200000-spam-and-telemarketing-breaches.

    James from the wine group. Hot tip for anyone getting these calls - call it back or answer it once, tell them you want to be removed or you're going to report them under the anti-spam act. James told me my number would be removed immediately.

    Did not answer knowing it is Wine Group. They ring frequently on very similar numbers even though I never answer.

    Scam caller from 'wine group' rings multiple times on different numbers so you can't block them. Surely this is against some type of spamming law??

    James from the wine group. Has called me multiple times in the past on other numbers. I answered this call again and said I’m not interested and that he has called me many times in the past. He said “oh wow, this is the first time I’m calling you, I’ve never spoken to you”, I replied back to him, “yes you have called me before, I know your voice and your name” and then hung up on him.

    I actually missed a call from on of his other phones so called him back. It was him, he had called me twice that month. I told him what I thought about him and not to call again.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
