    Indian/ Pakistani accent. Said they were from National Broadband Network and there is a security threat from my internet connection. Asked for IP address and all sorts of questions about whether I gave my passwords to anyone or whether I clicked on some internet pop ups. Listened (and answered) probably for way too long before I hung up.

    As another reviewer said they knew my name and were in noisy background with a delayed response. They claimed to be from National Broadband Network and said my Internet had a lot of red flags and asked when I used it last. I told him it wasn’t a good time as I had to go to work and he told me to go to hell. The only one going to hell should be these scam artists.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
