    An almost credible call @ 09:45 22nd April 2024, but I smelt a rat.

    And hung up instead of pressing 2 to speak to a rep. Then I checked.

    My credit card online for the mentioned debits to my account via.

    Amazon and something else and there was no unusual transactions.

    Definitely a scam of some sort, probably hoping to get my card details? Greybeard.

    Automated voice message Male describing that they were from the International VISA department. An unauthorised use on the VISA was made and if I did not make this purchase I should press 1 to speak to their agent. When I called the number back the automated message said they were an international Web creation company. Do not pickup when this number comes in.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
