    Number called twice. Both about LED lighting upgrade. First lady was polite when I said we upgraded 3 months ago. Then 3 hours later same number but a guy with South African accent, as I tried to say someone had already called he hung up mid pitch. If its real (the LED upgrade program is a real Vic govt initiative), I wouldn't use them calling from a VOIP number like this which is very similar to the numbers calling me purporting to be from CBA, National Broadband Network Co, NAB etc then hang up when you call them out on the scam. National Broadband Network Co and banks will never call like they try to.

    Didn't answer but when you call the number back it says you have been called for sales and marketing and to follow the prompts to talk to someone. Sounds like a scam.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
