    The voice was automated I know it sounded like a person, fooled me. I responded.

    Hi I’m calling from Australian community care.

    “Let me just stop you there”

    “I’m sorry. I’ts a really important charity that helps people below the poverty line….”

    “Let me just stop you there I’ll make a donation but I’m also on the poverty line”

    *hangs up*

    Careful of this seriously.

    I'm pretty sure this was a scam, a lady claimed to be calling to conduct a survey for 'Community Support'. She had an Australian accent but seemed very eager to keep me on the phone. I've never heard of this company so I hung up and blocked the number (and I advise you do the same).

    I didn't answer, no message was left. I'm in Sydney and it had a Victoria area prefix, everyone I know who lives in Victoria I have in my phone. Absolute scam.

    Not sure--very self-assured female voice asking for a donation for a children's charity. Not quite sure whether the name is supposed to be Your Community Foundation or Your Community Fundraising Centre. Could be legitimate, but as I can't easily track the exact charity by googling, I am glad that she did not persist when I said I would check out their website and consider making a donation.

    My phone marked this as a spam, I assume it is based on the number of searches for this number. No voicemail left as per ususal.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
