    On 6-Sep-23 pm I had a call recorded on my messagebank, I could neither understand the name of the caller nor what appeared to be a series of numbers he called out.

    They are pretending to be ADT and scamming people. Don't give them any information or even better, don't pick up the call. I don't have ADT security.

    I have an alarm with ADT. ADT rang rang me from this number, after I contacted them on-line. So fine by me.

    Possible coincidence, BUT, I set up a Telstra pin number this morning on line (yes its legit) and early this afternoon I received two possible scam calls, one to the mobile at 1.41 pm, which the Should I Answer App marked as a possible scam caller, then just two minutes later the same number called the landline, but couldn't get through the Telstra Call Guardian phone system.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
