    Received call from a young Indwegian named 'Max' pretending to offer a discounted travel prize (scam) for 3-5 star accommodation anywhere in Australia. He stated a fake competition was won when we entered our details on a form at a "supermarket in the last 2 years". Max was a tenacious young go-getter who skillfully avoided answering the question "Max, is this an unsolicited marketing call?" thirty times in a row. Max could only repeat that his company issued 5 thousand entry forms and he couldn't tell me where I entered his 'competition'. He never broke character.

    I commend Max for beginning his career in the telecommunications industry. Scamming is an excellent entry point into customer facing roles, like IT Helpdesk, banking complaints and other respectable roles that would make his parents proud. In 18 months, Max will progress to Scam Centre Team Leader, which would look desirable on his seek. Com profile.

    Max scores 4 stars out of 5 for not losing his temper and swearing in Hindi. He would earn the 5th star by not hanging up on me in defeat.

    This number may be a real person's number that Max spoofed. Max does seem like the kind of gentleman who enjoys a fast paced spoofing.

    Do not recommend harassing the legitimate owner of this number.

    Speak again soon Maxie <3.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
