    This is not a scam. This is Service NSW contacting recent travelers returning from overseas advising Covid requirements. I received a call and 2xSMS messages addressed to 2 different people. They incorrectly had my number on file as I'm not a returned traveler. I called the number and explained I'm not a returned traveler, they apologised and removed my number from their records. Either the returned travelers gave the wrong information or it was entered incorrectly in their system from travel documents. Either way if you are not returned traveler you'd be safe to ignore the messages, but I'd suggest to call them and get your number removed as you'll keep getting messages.

    Telephone scammers try to steal your money or personal information. Scams may come through phone calls from real people, robocalls, or text messages.

    Call or message may be a scam if:

    • You're asked for personal information or money;
    • Text messages tell you to urgently click a link or call a number;
    • The call or text pretends to be from someone you trust like your phone company or bank;
    • You're being threatened or made to feel scared;
    • The caller wants to access and control your computer.

    To protect yourself:

    • Don't answer if you don't know who it is. Let the call go to voicemail.
    • If a caller leaves a message claiming to be from known organisation, cross check the number the call came from against the organisation's official website.
    • Never share any personal information about yourself or your bank details.
    • Don't click on any links. Never let a stranger take control of your computer.
    • Do not send any money.
    • Block calls on your mobile phone. Your phone company can tell you how to block calls to your home phone.
