My wife had the email and gave her details, as she is owed money- I heard about it on the news a while back.

Has anyone actually received any refund?

Got the same email so decided to first call AOIC. They confirmed the refund order was legit. But didn't know why Veda/Equifax were using the overseas call centre.

I called the Sydney number today and the line was dead the first 3 times I called. On the 4th attempt, it rang normally and was answered by a Veda recording which said to press 1 for the AOIC refund. I did this and spoke with a woman who had a Philippines accent who seemed to know what was going on and explained the reason for the refund (AOIC legal direction).

I took a chance and gave her the requested bank and contact details, and said the refund would arrive in the account within 14 days. We'll see what happens but it sounds legit so far.

It's legit. Equifax (was Veda) got done for charging people for requesting their credit files when it should have been free if you only request one a year. Mine was from December 2014. [link].

It's a scam number. Received an email claiming I was owed money. I called the domain holder the email came from and they said the emails are spoofing their domain address.

    Do not call them!

I just got one, rang them and they then asked for a new account number so that the refund can be processed. The girl (overseas call centre I think), did not seem very confident when I spoke with her, when she was going through my details. So when asked for my account number, told her that I had not got it on me and said I would ring back.

All web links seem to now lead from Veda to Equifax, but it seems a bit strange that leading credit reporting agency has got its billing system incorrect.

I would be very wary about what is going on, and until I can get something concrete from someone, there is no way I am giving anyone my bank account details.

+61 2 9119 5063, has emailed me stating that they represent VEDA and I am owed $69.95 by them. They want to return it and require my Acc. Number.

    Is this genuine?
